We've all been there- waiting by the phone, or in a nice office lobby, minutes before we're about to interview for a dream job. It can be a pretty scary experience, especially if you're not sure what's coming.
But it doesn't have to be so nerve-wracking. I have held hundreds of interviews, from phone screens to Skype chats to on-site visits. I've also been on the other side of the table, and had successful interviews with many billion-dollar companies, as well as some of the hottest new startups. All of this has led to a clear understanding of how to impress any data science hiring manager!
Inquire today to schedule a phone or Skype call that will help you ace the real thing. I've developed custom questions, based on my real experiences, and will further tailor the call to suit your needs.
A standard interview lasts 30 minutes, and consists of:
- A closed-form question, covering topics like probability and/or expected values
- An open-ended question, without a right or wrong answer, to test creativity and problem-solving skills
- If time remains, I generally pick a new question from one of these two areas, depending on how the call went.
However, if you believe you need more help on one type of question, we can spend the full half hour working on it. Other possible topics include:
- Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Statistical concepts like regression and hypothesis testing
After the interview, you will receive detailed, written feedback about where you did well and where you can improve, on both your communication and your technical skills. You'll be one step closer to landing that dream job offer.
